James A. Murphy III
James A. Murphy III (born c. 1961) is an American politician of the Republican party, former District Attorney and a jurist. Murphy began serving in the Saratoga County District Attorney's Office in 1988, as an assistant DA.〔http://saratogacountyda.com/about/staff/james-murphy-iii/〕 He first was elected district attorney in 1997 and was sworn in on January 2, 1998. He was re-elected in 2001, 2005, and 2009. In all, he has served for over 23 years as a prosecutor. His grandfather was United States Congressman Carleton J. Murphy was born in Saratoga Springs on October 13, 1961 to Constance King Murphy, a law school graduate, and James A. Murphy, Jr. of Brooklyn, NY, an attorney and later mayor of Saratoga Springs.〔http://www.saratogapreservation.org/about-us/history〕 He is a grandson of Carleton J. Murphy graduated from Saratoga Springs Schools in 1979. He earned his bachelor's degree from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine in 1983. He received a Juris Doctor from Pace University School of Law in New York in 1986. He attended The Harvard Kennedy School for Executive Education and received a Certificate in Leadership in 2011 〔Biography of James A.
